About Us

Time Squares is an all inclusive, all levels, high energy, square dance club. It doesn’t matter whether you’re gay, lesbian, bi, transgendered, or straight; we welcome you to dance with us anytime. If you are new to square dancing, please visit our New Dancers page.

Everyone gets to dance at various levels throughout the week. Once a month we have a party dance, called a Combo Dance, for the whole club. Called Peel the Pumpkin, our annual weekend Fly-In for the larger community, is held in late October. Most of the dancing happens at Public School 3 (PS 3), near the corner of Christopher and Hudson Streets in Greenwich Village. For more information about when and where we dance visit our Calendar Page.

Membership in Times Squares is open to any dancer who can demonstrate dance proficiency at the Callerlab Mainstream level. We do not discriminate with respect to membership on any basis not directly related to the ability to participate in this activity.

Each membership year begins January 1 and annual dues are $60. Your dues cover the following expenses: newsletters, recruitment, publicity, liability insurance, and the purchase and maintenance of equipment. We also provide a partial subsidy for classes and workshops with low enrollment, as well as offer scholarships to those in financial need. You must be a paid member be listed in our directory and vote at the annual meeting usually held in early January. Dancers who graduate from the Mainstream class automatically become members of Times Squares and dues are waived for the rest of the calendar year in which they graduate.

To join Times Squares or renew your membership please print out and mail in the Times Squares Membership Application/Renewal Form.

We maintain a Membership Directory for the use of members (full members and students) only. People are listed on the roster only if they choose to be, and can opt out of showing specific information (e.g., home address) by indicating this on the registration form.

The club also encourages members to post profiles on the International Association of Gay Square Dance Clubs (IAGSDC) roster website here. This allows our members to post photos of themselves if they wish. You will need to register with IAGDSC to see the roster.
