The President’s Corner: It’s Fall

It’s fall and things are falling into place for a great season of dancing with Times Squares.
Beginning October 1, our Thursday nights will feature rotating levels of workshop/dances, all ably led by our own Betsy Gotta. These Thursday evenings have been scheduled because a number of members felt there wasn’t enough time to dance at their level.

Most vocal were the Challenge dancers so we have two Thursdays each month at Challenge level. October 1 will be C-2, with October 22 being C-1. In between, on October 15 will be Advanced level and on October 29, Plus level.
All evenings will be $15 for the whole evening – three whole hours! Each month will follow the same pattern – First Thursday, C-2; second, Advanced; third, C-1; and fourth, Plus. These evenings were scheduled at your request, SO COME OUT AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT. If numbers don’t live up to expectations, we will need to re-evaluate whether they will continue in 2016.
On October 6 we will begin teaching the new 12-week beginning square dance class. This shortened curriculum is designed to get new dancers onto the floor and dancing quickly and will allow us to welcome new people to Times Squares every three months.Fallget new dancers onto the floor and dancing quickly and will allow us to welcome new people to Times Squares every three months.

If you have friends who have been reluctant to commit to our previous class schedule, now is their chance.
Following class every Tuesday, we will have a new club night. These evenings are designed so all club members can participate and may feature a theme, an introduction to a concept or just an evening of fun dancing. Nick has been busy preparing these evenings for us and we will be posting the schedule in the near future

If you’re inclined to come a little early each Tuesday, you can get to know the new students. We will also be inviting them to hang around after class to get to know you and see how much we all enjoy square dancing.
And of course, there’s Peel the Pumpkin – Footloose and Fancy Free during the weekend of October 16-18. The program is finished and we’re ready for a great event. Make sure you’re ready for our costume contest, basket auction and “Best in Shoe” competition. We still need volunteers, so go to Volunteer Spot and sign up for a couple of shifts. You can sign up and view available spaces at http://vols.pt/YvWHCQ
