Square dancing is an excellent way to socialize while getting some exercise and learning a fun style of movement. It comprises four pairs of dancers, or eight people, standing to face each other in the shape of a square. The caller will instruct the dancers to move in various directions which makes for interesting choreography. Throughout the dance (known as a ‘tip’) one may interact with all eight people in the square, until finally returning home with their original partner.

Curious about this American dance but hesitant to sign-up for the 12 weeks of classes? Then you should come to one of our open houses and give it try. You will be introduced to the basics of Modern Western square dancing, and you will have a lot of fun. No partner needed — singles welcome. No special dress code – just comfortable shoes and a smile. And it’s free.
